Amphitheatre Buttress

Sea Kayaking took a backseat yesterday. My friend Matt from BRMC asked if I fancied some time out in the hills. He knew that I wanted to get some "leg work" under my belt for a forthcoming climbing trip in the Alps next month.  I’ve done Amphitheatre Buttress twice in the past, the first time maybe as long ago as 1995. I’d forgotten what a truly brilliant day out this climb is. It lies on Craig Yr Ysfa overlooking Cwm Eigiau in the Carneddau and is a long but easy climb in a mountain environment.
We left the midlands at 07:30 and were at the base of the route around 4 hours later; last in a queue of about 8 parties, most of which were already established on the climb. No worries… this was already designated a stress free day. We sat down to enjoy both the view and third breakfast while giving the other teams time to move further up the climb.
…cutting a long story short, a great day, great climb, great company.  It was good to get back on the rock again.
