River Trip

I just got back from a trip paddling a section of the River Wye on the Welsh/English border.  I took along a couple of friends and met up with some other folks that hang out together on a Open Canoe Message Board.  Well, nice people and a fantastic long weekend. 48 miles of paddling over 3 days from Glasbury near Hay-on-Wye to Hoarwithy. I must have seen 20 kingfishers on Saturday alone and plenty of other wild life too.

You know you’ve had a good break when it comes to an end.  I was just "in the groove" and could quite happily spent a few more days working my way down the remaining 50 miles or so of the river down to Monmouth, stopping and camping along the way. Taking in the sights and sinking a few beers with good friends along the way…

…but alas, the call of the rat race and outstanding bills is strong and once again I’m sitting here being distracted from a pile of work to sort out….
