Mont Blanc countdown

Well, just over a week left until we fly out to Geneva.  Nearly everything is sorted and everyone knows what pieces of group kit they’re supposed to be taking. No way are we going to meet the weight allowance.  Had a the usual training ride last night with the lads. Seems like my legs have been constantly acheing for weeks now with all the running and cyling that has been going on in preperation. Thinking about running a half marathon on monday as a final training run before we fly out.  Had my best time over 10.5km in the last 3 years a few days ago so fitness shouldn’t be a problem.  The weather and acclimatisation to lack of oxygen will determin whether we get to the top or not.

Had a chat about acclimatisation peaks in the pub last night. Probably going to do the Domes De Miage and Mont Blanc Du Tacul.  Serious height gain in just one week of climbing.  Everyone else seems to think that we’ll do it, but i know how hard things were on the Nadlehorn last year at 4300m.  I have my doubts… an extra 500m this time and only a week to aclimatise…

i always know where my towel is :)Fruit and berries on strange planets either make you live or make you die. Therefore the point at which to start toying with them is when you\’re going to die if you don\’t. That way you stay ahead. The secret to healthy hitchhiking is to eat junk food.
